Short version: we collect what we need to sell ad space and to count QR scans honestly. We don't sell anything to anyone, and we don't store your IP address.
If you contact us
When you fill in a form or book a call, we keep your name, business name, category, service areas, phone number and email address. We use them to reply to you and to work out which towns to expand into. They go to us and to nobody else.
If you scan a QR code
Every ad on our mailer carries a QR code that routes through this site before sending you to the advertiser's website. That hop is how we count scans, which is a major feature of our product.
We do not store your IP address. We store an anonymized representation of your visit. It lets us tell one visit from another within a 24-hour window so we don't count the same person twice. It can't be reversed into an IP address.
We also record which page you were sent to, roughly when, and your user-agent string, which is how we filter out bots and link-preview fetchers rather than counting them as real scans.
What advertisers see
Advertisers see counts, not people. How many scans their ad got, and on which days. They never see who you are, where you live, your phone number, or anything that could identify you, because we don't have that information.
Analytics
We use Fathom Analytics to understand how this website is used. Fathom doesn't use cookies, doesn't build a profile of you, and doesn't sell data. It's a privacy-focused alternative to Google Analytics, which is why we chose it.
Advertising
We run ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to reach local businesses. Those ads use the Meta Pixel, which tells us when someone who came from an ad fills in our form or taps our phone number, so we can see which ads are actually working. If you gave us your name, email or phone number, Meta may match a hashed version of it to an existing Meta account, for the same reason.
You can opt out of ad personalization directly with Meta at facebook.com/adpreferences.
Cookies
We set a session cookie when you use a form, so the form works. The Meta Pixel described above sets its own cookie to support ad tracking. Fathom sets none, and the QR redirect sets no cookie at all.
Getting your data removed
Email sales@drumuplocal.com and we'll delete what we hold about you. For scan data there's genuinely nothing to delete, because we can't tell which data is yours.
Questions
We're two people in Pleasantville and we answer our own email. sales@drumuplocal.com or (914) 326-3006.
