How it works
-
01
You claim your spot
The front is one business per category, and it holds across the whole card: no competitor of yours appears anywhere on it. The back has the smallest, lowest cost size, and two businesses can share a category there. Either way, payment holds the spot.
-
02
We mail every home on the routes we pick
Not a rented list, not a database, not a guess. Every residential address on hand-selected USPS carrier routes, chosen for median household income.
-
03
You watch the scans come in
A QR code scan sends customers straight to your own website or wherever you want. Log in to our dashboard any time to see scan stats, or get the numbers emailed to you, so you can gauge the impact of your ad.
The tracking
Most direct mail is a guess. Ours comes with real scan data, so you know it worked.
Your ad has its own unique QR code that gets counted on our platform, then takes the customer to your website or wherever you want.
-
01
Homeowner sees your ad
On the counter, on the fridge, in their hands.
-
02
They scan the QR code
Customers scan and we tally them.
-
03
They land on your website
All your info at their fingertips, instantly.
-
04
You see the data
We tally every scan from your ad so you know it's working.
Scans are proof it worked, not the whole result.
A lot of what an ad does never touches the QR code: someone sees your name on the fridge for a month and remembers it when the job comes up, calls the number printed right on the card instead of scanning, or just looks you up directly. None of that shows up in your QR code reports, but it's value the ad is generating all the same. The scans you can see are proof the mailing works; they're not the whole story of what it's doing for you.
Why the card gets kept
We design every ad on the card. Including yours.
Most coupon mailers are just a grid of the same ad layout over and over. That's why they look like junk mail and get tossed. Every ad on our card is professionally designed by us (for free), so the whole card looks premium, and it's something people keep. Your ad performs better because all the ads on it look great.
Send us your logo and any photos you want on your ad. We'll design the ad around them. Designing it for you doesn't mean ignoring your brand. If you have a professionally designed ad already, great. Send it over and we'll give it our thumbs up or suggest improvements.
Why it matters to you
- A piece that looks designed gets kept.
- A piece that gets kept gets scanned.
- Scans are proof the ad is working.
Straight answers
The questions you were going to ask anyway.
How do I know anyone actually looks at it?
You don't have to take our word for it, which is a key point of our offering. Every ad has its own QR code, and you see the scan count. If nobody scans, you'll know, and so will we.
What if my competitor signs up too?
They can't if you're on the front of the card. One business per category there, and it holds across the whole card: if you're the plumber on the front, there is no second plumber anywhere on the front or back. That's a hard rule for us and a big benefit for you. The back itself has no exclusivity, which is what makes it the lower cost side, so two businesses in one category can share it as long as nobody holds that category on the front.
I tried a mailer once and got nothing. Why is this different?
First, we choose our routes based on their Central Westchester location and household income rather than blanketing a whole town. Second, every ad is tracked so you can see what happened. The truth for any direct mail: sending once is a test, not a campaign. Mail works on repetition.
Do I have to design the ad?
No, and neither does anyone else on the card, which is a valuable aspect of our card. Every ad is professionally designed by us (for free), so the piece looks like something worth keeping rather than a coupon pack. Send your logo and photos and we design around them. If you already have a professional ad, send it over and we'll suggest any improvements.
Is there a long term contract? What's the minimum commitment?
No required multi-month contract. Try one issue. Buy three or more and you get a discount and a price lock. We'd rather you test it once than talk yourself into a long term contract you're not sure about.
How do I hold my category?
Payment holds it, not a conversation. That's not us being difficult. It's the only way for us to have accurate info for the next person who calls. It's first come, first served.
When does it mail?
Every issue has a published close date and a published mail date, and you'll find both on this site. The rule we hold to: we mail it on the mail date, however full the card is. A partially-sold card still goes out so you're not waiting around.
How many homes is this actually going to?
5,018 homes on hand-picked USPS carrier routes in Chappaqua and Pleasantville. Residential addresses only. No business addresses padding the number.
Can I see what the mailer looks like?
Yes. There's a sample at the top of the homepage, and we'll send you the digital image of the full card before we mail it.
Can I get a card all to myself, mailed somewhere outside your regular routes?
Yes, absolutely! That's a custom mailer, not the shared card. Get all the details here.
Do you do anything besides the mailer?
Yes. We also do web design and related services. Scott spent 25 years in digital advertising and design, so we know the digital side of things very well too. It's not bundled into the card and it's not required to run an ad. If you want to talk about anything else you need, just ask.
Who runs it
Drum Up Local is Scott and Ali
We've lived in Pleasantville, NY for 15 years and love it here. Scott spent 25 years in digital advertising and design, and built the tracking technology behind every ad on this card. He also runs Solarsilk, which has been building websites, campaigns and ad tracking for ad agencies since 2007, on brands like Disney, Chase and Pepsi. Ali spent 10 years marketing brands like Nivea and Snapple. We answer our own phone and can't wait to connect with you!
